Important biofluid

Blood is one of the most important biofluids in the body and its components are vital in many aspects. Red blood cells (RBC) are responsible for oxygen transport in the body, white blood cells (WBC) are an important part of the immune system and for battling bacteria, viruses and parasites while platelets help out during wound healing.

Below is an image showing different subpopulations of the blood, all which have several important functions in the body. Isolating these is important for clinical analyses and also the possibility to utilize them for therapeutic purposes.
